Dr Craig Haifer is a Staff Specialist in the Department of Gastroenterology at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney and a Senior Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales. He completed his PhD at Sydney University assessing the role of faecal microbiota transplantation in gastrointestinal diseases. He won the Gastroenterological Society of Australia’s Young Investigator Award and the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation’s Best Abstract for his research in the field. Craig developed the national guidelines on the use of FMT in clinical practice and has assisted the TGA in their process of regulation. He has active collaborations with local and international biotechnology companies and is embarking on clinical trials using FMT in combination with cancer immunotherapy and working on pathways to develop next generation, non-donor derived microbial manipulation therapy.
