Peter Jansen (Ngāti Hinerangi, Ngāti Raukawa) is the Chief Executive of Te Tāhū Hauora / Health Quality & Safety Commission, New Zealand. Peter is a Distinguished Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) for his work on cultural competence and health equity for Māori, and he was the first indigenous Fellow of RACMA.
Quality improvement and Māori health equity have been central themes in his career, beginning in primary care and pharmaceutical medicine, then in the treatment injury team at New Zealand’s Accident Compensation Corporation. During the COVID-19 pandemic Peter was the executive director of medical services and clinical governance for Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD in New South Wales, Australia.
